Job Title: Systems Engineer II Location: San Diego, CA Zip Code: 92123 Duration: 6 Months Contractor Work Week: 9/80 Pay Rate: $71.49/hr Start Date: Immediate What is the primary mission of this role? * GPNTS is the Navy"s next‑generation, real‑time GPS‑based data fusion and distribution system for surface platforms. It integrates inputs from multiple navigation sensors to produce a dependable and accurate blended navigation solution for Fleet operators. In this role, you will contribute to the development and sustainment of mission‑critical software that delivers reliable PNT data to U.S. Navy surface ships. What are the main functions of this role? This position requires onsite work in developing and conducting automated and manual test procedures to validate military GPS-based systems. Ability to work and collaborate in an Agile system. The System Engineer will perform a verification and validation role in organizing requirements, developing test procedures, coordinating with other disciplines, and validating the test in a customer test event. o Develop and conduct test procedures to validate military GPS-based systems o Experience with GPS systems o Troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems o Develop system and subsystem requirements for complex systems by collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to obtain necessary information for design, integration, and troubleshooting Ability to work with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers to resolve issues o Ability to effectively communicate with leads and teammates on daily tasks to provide team status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed o Onsite work in San Diego facility required Required Skill Sets: o Experience or knowledge on TCP/IP networking & switches/routers, basic electronic circuitry, and software scripting language. o Experience developing and conducting automated and manual test procedures o Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) o Familiar with Agile concepts and the Atlassian tool suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence) o Competence in peer review processes and configuration/change management Desired Skill Sets: o Ability to work independently and work with SMEs, Chief Engineers, and other program stakeholders to make informed technical decisions o Active and transferable U.S. government-issued SECRET security clearance o Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks o Experience with the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements definition, analysis, decomposition, systems integration, verification, and validation o Experience with reviewing technical drawings and requirements o Ability to work on rapid development programs or in fast-paced environments o Strong interpersonal and communication skills o Familiar with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures Years of Experience Required: o minimum of 2 years Education Level Required: o Requires a Bachelor"s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics or a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $75.42/hr, however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
