Role Overview:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer II to support the modernization of enterprise Health Information Technology (Health IT) solutions for the Indian Health Service (IHS). The ideal candidate will have experience in systems integration, healthcare interoperability, cloud technologies, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) environments. This role involves collaborating with cross functional teams to design, integrate, test, deploy, and sustain secure and scalable healthcare technology solutions while supporting interoperability across enterprise healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise Health IT and EHR solutions
  • Translate clinical, business, and operational requirements into technical specifications
  • Assist with implementation of scalable cloud based healthcare solutions
  • Identify dependencies across applications, interfaces, infrastructure, and enterprise systems
  • Support development and execution of integration plans and technical implementation activities
  • Coordinate healthcare interoperability initiatives and interface implementation efforts
  • Create, maintain, and update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and related technical documentation
  • Maintain interface inventories and support lifecycle management of enterprise integrations
  • Support data exchange initiatives utilizing healthcare interoperability standards
  • Support cloud based data repositories including Four Directions Warehouse (4DW)
  • Assist with secure migration, validation, and maintenance of clinical and operational data
  • Support system testing, verification, validation, and operational readiness activities
  • Develop and execute test cases while tracking defects and supporting issue resolution
  • Participate in readiness reviews, deployment planning, and go live activities
  • Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, vendors, clinical teams, and program leadership
  • Provide second level technical support for system, interface, and data related issues
  • Identify, document, and track technical risks, issues, and mitigation plans
  • Prepare engineering status reports, technical documentation, and executive briefings

Required Skills:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience supporting Systems Engineering, Health IT, or Information Technology programs
  • Experience supporting systems integration, application support, interfaces, or EHR environments
  • Experience documenting technical requirements, testing activities, and system processes
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles
  • Understanding of System Integration and Interoperability concepts
  • Experience with Requirements Management
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding of Configuration Management concepts
  • Familiarity with cloud based systems and virtual infrastructure
  • Knowledge of HL7
  • Knowledge of FHIR
  • Familiarity with Interface Engines
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting Healthcare IT environments
  • Experience supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Familiarity with PATH EHR
  • Experience with Four Directions Warehouse (4DW)
  • Experience supporting federal healthcare organizations
  • Experience working within public sector IT modernization programs

  • Experience with Direct Secure Messaging (DSM)

Education Requirement:
