SummaryThe Systems Engineer III/Infrastructure Engineer II leads the design, implementation, optimization, and sustainment of mission‑critical compute, storage, and virtualization systems supporting PMW 790 operations. This position serves as a subject‑matter expert across data center, automation, and hybrid cloud technologies, influencing architecture decisions and mentoring junior engineers.Location: San Diego, CA | Norfolk, VA | Charleston, SC | Pearl Harbor, HI | Panama City, FLClearance: Secret (eligible for TS/SCI)Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management of infrastructure systems—including virtualized servers, storage/SAN/VSAN, backup/recovery, and hybrid‑cloud platforms—and support system capacity forecasting and performance optimization.Select, integrate, and manage infrastructure hardware, software, and tools; perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and lifecycle upgrades.Develop and implement automation, orchestration, infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC), and configuration management strategies to improve the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of infrastructure.Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and operational requirements; incorporate DoD and enterprise hardening standards, RMF controls, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations planning.Provide leadership and technical guidance to junior engineers, coordinate cross‑functional teams (network, cyber, storage, applications), and serve as an escalation point for complex issues.Drive infrastructure modernization efforts, evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., software‑defined infrastructure, hybrid cloud, container hosting), and propose solutions aligned with business/mission objectives.Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and training materials.Monitor system health and reliability, respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.Participate in budgeting, procurement planning, vendor management, and evaluation of lifecycle costs for infrastructure components.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).Demonstrated expertise in VMware NSX-T, vSAN, and infrastructure‑automation technologies.Knowledge of DoD RMF and system hardening.5+ years in data center or virtualization engineering.Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team; ready for occasional travel or onsite support as required.Proven problem‑solving abilities with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication skills: able to explain technical issues to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.#J-18808-Ljbffr
