Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer serves as the College's primary enterprise infrastructure professional, responsible for the design, implementation, security, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the institution's server, cloud, virtualization, storage, backup, and enterprise systems infrastructure. This position ensures the reliability, availability, performance, and security of the College's enterprise technology environment while supporting modernization and growth initiatives aligned with the College's mission and strategic direction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and install information technology equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Associate's degree in a related field plus relevant enterprise infrastructure experience will be considered. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and experience may be substituted.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Microsoft, Azure, VMware, or equivalent infrastructure certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education and technical development.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve enterprise server, cloud, virtualization, storage, and backup infrastructure.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server, virtualization platforms, and enterprise storage systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Plan and implement infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle replacements, and technology improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, disaster recovery documentation, and infrastructure standards.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls supporting the College's information security program.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and test enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology staff and campus stakeholders to support enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Manage productive relationships with vendors, contractors, service providers, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, security, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Maintain current knowledge of infrastructure technologies and cybersecurity trends through continuing education.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
