Overview

SYSTEMS ENGINEER (MID) (LI2S)

Bowhead seeks a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Program Office for Logistics Integrated Information Solutions – Marine Corps (LI2S-MC) in Stafford, VA. The Systems Engineer will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, logisticians, and program analysts within a scaled agile environment.

The Systems Engineer will support the Product Manager, Data Environment & Integration (PdM, DE&I) and oversee the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance. They will integrate various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices through system specification, design, coding, testing and maintenance support. The Systems Engineer will consider overall project design including cost, schedule, and social issues that may be associated with a project. This position may require occasional CONUS travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Agile development process to ensure software solutions consistently deliver customer value.
  • Monitor and analyze Agile development reports on such aspects as Sprint burndown, status, progress, etc.
  • Manage the production and maintenance of comprehensive software architectural documentation.
  • Compile and report on performance metrics (i.e. velocity, cycle time, etc.) for all cloud-hosted applications.
  • Prepare and deliver agendas and presentation materials, draft meeting minutes, and capture action items for meetings/events.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. MA/MS degree preferred.
  • At least six (6) years of professional experience including at least four (4) years of specialized experience on high visible or mission critical projects within DoW or industry.
  • Experience with Navy or Marine Corps programs preferred, experience with logistics systems a plus.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering experience and Cameo Systems Modeler tool a plus.
  • Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
  • Ability to manage the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific task.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to lead a team or perform independently.
  • Requires excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
