    Location: Detroit, MI- Onsite

    Type: Full-time

Security Clearance: No clearance required, must be clearable.

    Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with deep experience in microelectronics, semiconductor devices, chips, and hardware-centric systems. This role is responsible for defining, integrating, and validating complex hardware and hardware-software systems from concept through production. The ideal candidate has strong system-level thinking, hands-on technical depth, and the ability to work across silicon design, hardware engineering, embedded software, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Define system-level requirements for microelectronics-based hardware platforms
    • Support integration of ASICs, FPGAs, SoCs, PCBs, and embedded components
    • Perform system trade-off analysis (performance, power, cost, reliability)
    • Lead system-level verification, validation, and hardware bring-up
    • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams through production ramp
    • Produce system documentation and participate in design reviews
    • Develop system architectures that integrate chips, hardware subsystems, firmware, and software
    • Translate customer, product, and regulatory requirements into technical specifications
    • Support chip selection, architecture decisions, and board-level integration
    • Evaluate interfaces, buses, and protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes)
    • Define and execute system-level verification and validation plans
    • Support bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis of hardware and silicon issues
    • Collaborate on test strategies for pre-silicon, post-silicon, prototype, and production builds
    • Ensure requirements traceability and compliance throughout the development lifecycle
    • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams during production ramp
    • Support DFM, DFT, reliability, qualification, and failure analysis activities
    • Address hardware obsolescence, component changes, and system updates
    • Ensure systems meet regulatory, safety, and industry certification requirements
    • Act as a technical bridge across hardware, software, firmware, and manufacturing teams

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (Master's preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in systems or hardware engineering
    • Strong experience with microelectronics, chips, and hardware platforms
    • Hands-on experience with hardware integration and system testing
    • Proven ability to lead system-level design and integration efforts
