Solutions Engineer – Northeast Region

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to provide technical pre-sales support to Regional Sales Managers across the Northeast United States and serve as a trusted technical partner to customers and channel partners.

As the technical design authority for bids, proposals, and RFP responses, you will develop practical, competitive system solutions that combine Tait technology with selected third-party products. You will guide opportunities from initial discovery and feasibility assessment through proposal, customer presentation, contract award, and handover to the delivery team.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluate qualified opportunities for customer fit, technical feasibility, commercial viability, resource needs, competitive position, and likelihood of success.
• Partner with Regional Sales Managers on customer discovery, technical meetings, presentations, and solution demonstrations.
• Lead preliminary system design, coverage analysis, RF subsystem planning, site selection, and simulcast design and optimization.
• Prepare accurate technical content for tenders, proposals, and RFP responses, including compliance matrices, system descriptions, equipment lists, drawings, pricing inputs, and supporting documentation.
• Design integrated solutions using Tait and third-party products, coordinating with engineering specialists to confirm interfaces, functionality, schedules, and feasibility.
• Translate customer needs into clear project requirements, deliverables, milestones, configurations, and handover documentation.
• Take ownership of assigned opportunities through order receipt and support a smooth transition to the project implementation team.
• Educate customers and channel partners on solution capabilities and business development opportunities.
• Provide appropriate post-sales technical support and contribute customer and market insight to keep Tait solutions competitive.
• Promote a collaborative, compliant, and continuous-improvement culture while representing Tait with professionalism and integrity.

Location and Travel

This role involves moderate travel. Applicants must be based in the Northeast region of the United States, including Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine.

What You’ll Bring

• At least five years of experience in land mobile radio communications system sales, solutions engineering, or system engineering, ideally involving P25, DMR, or related technologies.
• At least one year of system planning or design experience and at least one year of experience responding to RFPs.
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a comparable discipline.
• Experience with radio coverage modeling tools such as EDX, ATDI, or an equivalent platform.
• Knowledge of mobile telecommunications networks, RF design, system implementation, validation, TSB-88 guidance, grounding practices, and the components required to deliver complete communication systems.
• Ability to integrate third-party products into cohesive customer solutions.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, customer-service, and consultative sales skills.
• Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, ownership, and the ability to balance technical depth with the broader customer objective.
• A collaborative approach grounded in honesty, integrity, empathy, and professionalism.
