DescriptionSAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) Verification and Validation (V&V) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions.Supporting the SR-1 NPM Lead Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will be the technical lead for NPM V&V Planning and Execution.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsuring the system is verified and validated using the defined mission success criteriaDefining verification methods for all requirementsDefining and maintaining the Verification Matrix to ensure industry partner's V&V plans align with system-level V&VEnsuring the NPM V&V Plan is in-line with the SR-1 Vehicle V&V PlanCoordinating subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteriaValidation of mission requirements and concept of operationsCollaborating with the Integration & Test and External Interfaces technical leadsBeing the interface to the with the mission level V&V planning effortLocationWork will be performed onsite at NASA GRC in Cleveland, Ohio, 5-days a weekQualificationsRequired SkillsExperience with verification and validation planning and executionDemonstrated experience in systems engineering on complex hardwareDemonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teamsExcellent communication skillsHighly motivated and able to work independentlyTeam player dedicated to the missionDesired SkillsExperience with spaceflight hardware projectsExperience working with NASA, Department of Energy, or defense/navalsystems engineering processes and proceduresINCOSE CSEPEducation/ExperienceCompleted at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM-related major from an accredited program with the following education and experienceBachelors and nine (9) years or more of relevant experienceMasters and seven (7) years or more of relevant experiencePhD or JD and four (4) years or more of relevant experienceTarget salary range: $80,001 - $120,000.
