KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated Systems Engineer, Senior, to join our team. This position will be onsite in Pax River, MD.

This position will provide Systems Engineering support to the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).  USNTPS provides instruction to experienced US Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and foreign military experimental test pilots, flight test engineers, and flight test flight offers in the processes and techniques of aircraft and systems testing and evaluation. Aircraft used by USNTPS include the T-6B Texan II, AT-6E Wolverine, T-38C Talon, UH-72A Lakota, UH-60L Blackhawk, C-26A ASTARS III, F/A-18F Super Hornet, C-12C Huron, NU-1B Otter, OH-58C Kiowa, U-6A Beaver, and the X-26A Frigate.

Primary Duties:
  • Supports the USNTPS government civilian Class Desk in the execution of duties. 
  • Performs engineering support coordination for the assigned aircraft platforms. 
  • Applies systems engineering methods and tools and performs functions such as system integration, configuration management, and risk management. 
  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. 
  • Performs problem solving roles in the organization by identifying anomalies, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems for hardware, software, and systems. 
  • Performs technical liaison role working with other Program Offices, other Armed Services, external partners like the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure timely and comprehensive advice. 
  • Performs technical evaluation supporting plans to evaluate and implement new technologies and improvements for aircraft systems. 
  • Supports the safety governance process and safety reviews. 
  • Performs tasks with little or no guidance or leads the execution of complex tasks. 
  • Has demonstrated knowledge in area of engineering expertise. 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with commercial derivative aircraft (CAD) is highly desired. 
  • Prior experience coordinating with the Federal Aviation Administration and coordinating Supplemental Type Certificates is desired. 
  • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required. 
  • Strong customer relations, analytics, and documentation skills
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
  • Microsoft office suite proficiency, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently

Education and Experience:
  • Must have a master’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university
  • In lieu of a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience may be substituted
  • Must have minimum of ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) years of which must be directly related to DoD systems.
Clearance:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation: 
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $145,000 to $160,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
