This role applies Model-Based Systems Engineering practices to translate operational needs into actionable technical artifacts, sustain system models, and support lifecycle planning. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented systems engineer who can work across technical teams, program stakeholders, and documentation environments to strengthen mission delivery and long-term sustainment.Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications This role supports the development, sustainment, and modernization of a mission planning tool by applying MBSE, requirements analysis, lifecycle planning, and knowledge management practices. The Systems Engineer will help maintain consistency between design, implementation, configuration, and sustainment activities while producing clear artifacts that support program decisions. The role requires initiative, strong communication, and the ability to organize complex system information for both technical and non-technical audiences.Key responsibilities include:Apply MBSE principles to support complex system sustainment, upgrades, and lifecycle managementUse MBSE tools such as Cameo to interpret and update system models, including SysML diagramsDevelop and manage system requirements, traceability, model element relationships, and reports that support program decisionsPerform requirements analysis, synthesis, and traceability for shall statements and supplemental fields, including test methods and success criteriaDevelop and maintain a Life Cycle Sustainment Plan aligned to program objectives and long-term support strategiesSupport knowledge management practices by organizing and maintaining technical documentationMaintain documentation within Confluence and Git-based repositoriesSupport configuration management activities across system changes, configurations, and operational impactsWork across the system lifecycle to maintain alignment between design, implementation, and sustainment activitiesCommunicate complex system information in clear, actionable artifacts for technical and non-technical audiencesAnticipate needs, take initiative, and contribute improvement ideas that strengthen team executionRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree5+ years of experience in MBSEExperience applying MBSE principles to support complex system sustainment, upgrades, and lifecycle managementExperience performing requirements analysis, synthesis, and traceability for shall statement and supplemental fields evaluation, including test method and success criteriaExperience with knowledge management, configuration management, and LCSP creation, including for IT programsExperience with both Waterfall and Agile project managementAbility to use MBSE tools such as CameoAbility to interpret and update system models, including SysML diagrams, to reflect system changes, configurations, and operational impactsAbility to interact with technical and non-technical audiences at varying levelsDesired QualificationsExperience with the Atlassian Suite, including Confluence and JiraExperience with cloud services and cloud-native architecture patternsExperience working with or architecting solutions in AWSExperience working as a software or systems engineering and integration lead, including cradle to graveExperience using Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and ProjectStrong communication skillsClearance & Additional RequirementsSecret clearanceTS/SCI clearance preferredAbility to work onsite at Peterson Space Force BaseLocationThis position is full-time, on site in Colorado Springs (Peterson SFB)CompensationThe typical salary range for this position is USD $120,000 - $141,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
