Responsibilities:
Perform systems engineering to include expertise in systems design and integration, manufacturing quality, and industrial engineering, airworthiness, and configuration, and data management.
Assist in developing, deploying, and maintaining processes to assure weapon systems are fully integrated, manufactured, sustained, configuration managed, and operationally safe, suitable, and effective throughout their life cycle.
Understand and execute AFPD 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations.
Understand and apply MIL-HDBK-516C, Airworthiness Certification Criteria, to aircraft systems and subsystems.
Support the System Integrity Programs, including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
Apply OSS&E (Operational Support and Engineering) and airworthiness processes, as well as assist in providing risk assessments, safety analysis, and recommendations, and address high-priority safety issues.
Assist in translating user requirements into weapons system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate weapons systems, subsystems, and equipment for eventual fielding and deployment.
Use knowledge of systems engineering in support of system definition, development, integration, verification, methods, sustainment, risk modeling, simulation, testing, and evaluation, human system integration (HSI), crew stations engineering, OSS&E efforts, interoperability requirements, and airworthiness certification across a wide range of hardware and software systems, including ground-based systems.
Review and assist in performing assessments on program-specific databases, analyzing BIT (Basic Integrated Test) failure reports, and comparing failure reports against the BIT interpreter analyzer for accuracy of BIT indications.
Provide system integration guidance to aircraft program offices for the program, system installation, and system maintenance.
Review and analyze technical proposals or modifications for design feasibility and system capability.
Assist in conducting performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical, and schedule risk assessments and schedule trade-off studies.
Conduct systems analyses to include but not limited to system design, design feasibility, and state-of-the-art assessments.
Provide system integration guidance to the government for the program, system installation, and system maintenance.
Assist in reviewing and analyzing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) technical proposals or modifications for design feasibility and system capability.
Assist in performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical, and schedule risk assessments and scheduling trade-off studies.
Assist in systems analyses to include but not limited to system design, design feasibility, and state-of-the-art assessments.
Provide technical expertise and proper application of systems engineering processes to support technology and systems development.
Assist in defining the maturation of technology development and technical risk reduction efforts and evaluating and managing requirements, functional, and physical architectures, and interfaces.
Assist in managing the technical issues that arise as a result of the integration processes using a systems approach.
Assist in developing a SEP (System Engineering Plan) to address the technical strategy of the development efforts.
Employ procedures, methods, and tools for measuring technical progress and assist in assessing the effectiveness of plans and solutions.
Assist in the development and review of the overall system design baseline architecture and interoperability requirements.
Assist in developmental planning support in evaluation of the military mission to be accomplished and any related requirements documentation.
Assist in reviewing and analyzing proposals, including regulatory and other policy driver changes or proposed modifications for design feasibility and system compatibility.
Assist with the core engineering tasks as they relate to system design engineering.
Assist in providing rapid response engineering service and support as augmentation to organic resources through in-depth problem identification, impact assessment, and development of corrective actions for critical supportability problems.
Support and assist in conducting the system safety engineering program, including mishap risk assessments, evaluating contractor safety proposals, and safety analyses, evaluating safety concerns of using and support commands, and assisting with resolution of high-priority safety issues.
Assist in performing material solution analyses leading up to design reviews.
Assist in producing or supporting development of draft documentation and presentation materials as requested or necessitated by programmatic limits based on cost, schedule, and performance.
Assist in providing support to produce or review products that include the following technical evaluations, plans, engineering studies, reports, and analyses, and acquisition strategies, such as:
Support project team meetings, working groups, and reviews as needed.
Required Experience:
One of the following:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship required.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
