    Department Detail –The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove (BGTC) was founded in 1987 by Billy and Ruth Graham to offer a retreat for people to leave the demands of daily life to study the Bible. The mission of the BGTC is “Training People in God’s Word to Win Others to Christ.”

    The Property Services department at the Cove consists of the following areas: Building Maintenance, Technical Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, our Safety Program, our RV Volunteer Ministry, Energy Management, and Project Management.  The department is committed to providing a distraction free, beautiful and safe facility for our guests.  Our mission statement is “Preparing this Place for People to Meet with God”.

    Job Summary –The Systems Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with maintenance of technical, electrical, communication, and mechanical systems within BGTC facilities. 

    Ministry Requirements

    • Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
    • Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
    • Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
    • Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
    • Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists the Property Services Technical Supervisor and Technical Coordinator with maintenance, testing, and ongoing upgrades of the technical, electrical, communication, and mechanical systems of our facilities which include the burglar alarm system, CCTV security camera system, access control system and the following:

      -Telephone and Voice Mail System

      -Energy Management Systems

      - HVAC Systems – change HVAC filters, clean cooling coils, assist with maintenance and repairs

      - Plumbing system – including potable water and site well supported water systems

      - Electrical system – assist with maintenance, testing and service of generators, lighting contact panels     and lighting fixtures, switches, circuit breakers and related equipment

      - Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler systems – assist with troubleshooting and maintaining electrical control voltage systems

      - Motorola 2 Way radio systems

    Job Specifications

     

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Ability to diagnose and repair problems with electrical, mechanical and food service equipment
    • Ability to use diagnostic electrical tools to determine proper working order of equipment.
    • Experience and/or training as a systems maintenance technician
    • The ability to work as a supportive team member with other maintenance personnel and/or the Property Services Technical Supervisor in performing work
    • Detailed knowledge and skill in the use of specialized tools, equipment, and safety equipment pertinent to the kinds of work performed
    • Basic reading and mathematical skills normally acquired through completion of high school
    • Diligence is required in the performance of the work and in communications to the Property Services Technical Supervisor - all work and movement to the next task will be done with productive effort and planning
    • Coordinates positively with the Property Services Technical Supervisor, and communicates needs for materials and equipment to complete the task at hand
    • Uses experience and a teachable attitude to implement maintenance and construction practices as they relate to the needs of The Billy Graham Training Center
    • Communicates information to the appropriate parties for action decisions when necessary
    • Discerns when assistance is required in making routine decisions regarding the best way to proceed in a particular maintenance situation
    • Committed to the implementation of the Safety Program as it regards to safety practices and equipment used by maintenance personnel
    • Works in such a way that maintenance occurs in a cost effective and timely manner

    Physical/Mental Demands

    • Ability to work as needed - a flexible schedule is required
    • Ability to be very mobile in and out of a vehicle in order to perform maintenance and project operations
    • Heavy lifting is required in this position
    • The ability to drive a vehicle
    • The ability to receive direction from various people in supervisory and management positions, and focus this direction into appropriate action, while communicating back to the Property Services Technical Supervisor
    • Pleasant appearance, neat and professional at all times
    • Work as a team on various projects/work

    • We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person a biological male or female.  These two distinct, but complementary sexes together reflect the image and likeness of God.  Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s merciful design and creative order.  (Genesis 1:26-27; Mark 10:6; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Deuteronomy 22:5).

    Benefits Summary:
    Associate or Seasonal employees may work up to 19 hours a week (not to exceed 1000 hours a year (calendar/sequential)), and are not eligible for any benefits.
