Our client, a leading provider of advanced test and measurement solutions in the defense and technology sector, is seeking a Systems Support Engineer to join their team. As a Systems Support Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Support team supporting customer operations, engineering, and product development teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer-facing communication abilities, and technical expertise across hardware and software systems, which will align successfully in the organization.
 

Job Title: Systems Support Engineer

Location: Huntsville, AL (Primarily On-Site)

Pay Range: Competitive; based on experience


What’s the Job?

  • Provide post-delivery technical support for complex custom test systems, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and customer assistance.
  • Support site acceptance testing, commissioning, startup activities, training programs, and system installations at customer locations.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer by communicating technical feedback, issues, and improvement opportunities to engineering and business teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resolution efforts, document technical issues, maintain system documentation, and provide design-for-serviceability feedback.
  • Deliver post-deployment consulting, repair services, coaching, and training to maximize system uptime and operational effectiveness.

 

What’s Needed?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience, including customer-facing technical support or engineering roles.
  • Experience with National Instruments (NI) platforms including LabVIEW, TestStand, PXI systems, automated test equipment (ATE), and test & measurement environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, computer architectures, hardware/software integration, instrumentation, and programming languages such as LabVIEW, C/C++, or C#.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and willingness to work primarily on-site in Huntsville, AL, with occasional travel to Austin, TX.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Testeract and/or SystemLink.

  • Background in the defense industry.

  • Cross-platform development experience (Windows/Linux).

  • NI LabVIEW Certification.

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and methodologies (Cp, Cpk, GR&R).

Travel Requirements

Training Period (First 2–3 Months)

  • 70% on-site in Austin, TX for onboarding, STE design, and build activities.
  • 30% remote for training, meetings, and customer introductions.

On-Site Support Period (12–18 Months)

  • 80% on-site in Huntsville, AL at the customer facility.
  • 20% remote and/or travel to Austin, TX for additional onboarding and support activities.
