Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a SYSTEMS & TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING MANAGER, located in San Lorenzo, PR.

Under the direction of the Site Senior Technical Operations Manager, manages all aspects of an assigned Process Engineering group. Responsible for providing day to day tactical guidance to the group in problem identification, root cause analysis and problem resolution. Interfaces directly with other San Lorenzo and Corporate functional groups to ensure that goals and objectives are met within GMP/ISO compliance. Coordinate continuous improvement and productivity improvement activities. Provides strategic direction regarding validation and process control procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Site Senior Technical Operations Manager and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

Supervises the technical support associates.

  • Provides day-to-day tactical guidance to group in problem identification, root cause analysis and problem resolution.

Coordinates continuous improvement and productivity improvement activities.

  • Prepares, discusses, documents, sets goals and measures above activities in agreement with the PDM process.
  • Interfaces with other San Lorenzo and external-particularly Corporate-functional groups to ensure that the facility’s goals, objectives, and requirements are met. Included are project schedules, product/process requirements and GMP/ISO compliance.

Interfaces directly with Business Unit Managers/Staff Managers to ensure that manufacturing operations and projects receive effective technical support.

  • Review capital expense forecasts and address variance issues.
  • Receives tactical and strategic guidance from Manager. Keeps Manager well informed of all major problems, improvement activities and potential barriers.
  • Has signature authority for ADAPTV, ECCS, ICO’s, protocols, completion reports and revises feasibility studies and development protocols.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties assigned by Site Senior Technical Operations Manager.
  • Represents Ethicon Company during internal, J&J Corporate and FDA audits of the validation process.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS 18001).
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Eight to ten years of applicable experience or 6 years of experience in process engineering. Master degree desirable.

Experience and Skills:

Availability to work various work schedules, which may include 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts and/or 12-hour daily shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Bilingual (Spanish & English).
  • Six Sigma Certification highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • PR Engineers in Training (EIT) and/or PR Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
  • Advance computer skills and use of software application(s).

Other:

  • Position may be based in San Lorenzo or Manatí Facility, subject to hiring work center requirement.
  • 20% travel required, must be able to travel between Ethicon Locations (Manati and San Lorenzo) and other locations as required by the business.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation. This position is eligible for Mileage Reimbursement for Personal Car Usage as per JNJ Global Travel, Meetings and Expense Policy. The mileage reimbursement is intended to cover costs related to operation of the vehicle including service, maintenance (gasoline, oil), routine repairs, insurance, and depreciation.
