What you'll do:In this role you will be responsible for performing test engineering activities for RF/Microwave products and sub-assemblies developed for commercial, military and space markets. We plan and execute test tasks that include interpreting test requirements, writing test plans, designing test hardware, designing test software and testing and debugging flight hardware for commercial, military, and space markets! This includes activity for both RF and digital testing of modules.
We work directly with RF Design Engineers, Digital Engineers, manufacturing, and program management. We get involved early in programs early in order to provide test support from Systems Requirement Review all the way through Production Readiness Review and production.
The day-to-day:Work with designers to gather test requirements.
Develop Test Plans
Develop Test Station Hardware
Select appropriate Test equipment
Develop test software
Create Test HW Bill of Materials
Test station calibration
Troubleshoot and problem-solving on Viasat hardware
Data Analysis of test results
Write Test and or Calibration procedures
Train or mentor new technicians and test engineers
Communicate status to program management
Testing of custom RF hardware
Create HW and SW documentation
7+ years of test automation and design experience.
Experience leading a test development effort.
Proficiency with programming in one or more languages such as Python, C#, Java and LabView.
Tolerance for ambiguity, or the ability to work with an incomplete set of requirements.
Strong communications skills.
Works well in a team or as an individual contributor.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a relatable program or equivalent experience
US citizenship required.
Up to 10% travel.
Experience in RF test system design and automation.
Solid understanding of RF amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, and transceivers.
Demonstrated experience programming and controlling test equipment through SCPI commands.
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
Understanding of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, network analyzers, noise figure meters, and signal generators.
