The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is looking for a Tai Chi Instructor who believes fitness is about more than burning calories — it's about showing up for people. Responsibilities:
Plans and leads group fitness classes that are safe, welcoming, and energizing for participants of all fitness levels and backgrounds
Adapts class content to meet the varied health, ability, and cultural needs of every member in the room
Builds genuine relationships with members — noticing who's new, who's been away, and who might need extra encouragement
Stays current on fitness trends and wellness best practices to deliver effective, informed instruction
Maintains accurate class attendance records and checks in with the Healthy Living Director on goals and outcomes
Keeps group exercise studios clean and equipment properly set up and stored
Responds to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA safety policies and procedures
Notifies appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately
Keeps all required certifications current
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age.
Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Tai Chi Instructor certification.
Complete and pass audition with director.
Able to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner.
Able to reflect a positive attitude.
National Group Exercise Certification (i.e. AFAA, ACE, NCSM), specialized training in a nationally recognized format (i.e. Zumba, Barre, YogaFit, RYT 200 or 500, Piloxing, Pilates, Powder Blue formats, LesMills etc) and/or Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise.
