Duties & Responsibilities:

The chief purpose of this position in support of The Pauley Heart Center''s mission is to SERVE in an hourly paid/PRN role within the CARDIOLOGY PROGRAM AT TAPPAHANNOCK HOSPITAL PROVIDING CLINICAL CARE to include clinic, reading of cardiovascular diagnostics, inpatient consults, supervision of stress testing and other credentialed patient care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching To support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals. Periodically will be expected to present appropriate reviews in patient management discussions at Cardiology and Department of Internal Medicine conferences. In addition, will be expected to participate in University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicing physicians which is important to enhancing patient referrals.
  • Research To support clinical research protocols as needed.
  • Service Will be expected to participate in quality, safety and efficiency initiatives.
  • Clinical Will primarily be dedicated to the outpatient, inpatient and consultative clinical services. Will collaborate across hospital departments to include Primary Care, Hospitalists, ED and Imaging. Will also collaborate with VCUMC and CMH Cardiology providers to set and implement appropriate standards of practice related to cardiac care.
  • Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.) Submit billing and document care as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements.

Qualifications:

Candidates should be/have:

  • A BC/BE cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease.
  • Clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment.
  • Able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program.
  • Will be expected to participate in teaching and Fellowship programs.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in State of Virginia.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an d foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Salary Range: Commensurate
