Position Summary

A growing wealth management firm is seeking a Tax Manager to lead and expand its tax services practice. This individual will play a key role in managing client tax engagements, providing strategic tax planning, and serving as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, entrepreneurial, and excited to help build and shape a growing tax practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and review of individual, fiduciary, gift, trust, and business tax returns
  • Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance on tax matters and responding to inquiries
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities related to income, investments, estate planning, and business transactions
  • Collaborate closely with financial advisors to deliver integrated wealth management and tax solutions
  • Research complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor tax law changes and assess potential impacts on clients
  • Lead client meetings and present tax strategies in a clear, consultative manner
  • Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Support practice growth through client relationship development, referrals, and business development efforts
  • Assist with establishing and improving tax processes, workflows, and best practices
  • Mentor and develop junior tax professionals as the team continues to grow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
  • CPA designation required or strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of public accounting, family office, wealth management, or tax advisory experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S-Corporation, trust, and estate taxation
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and research software
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical advice
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow a developing tax practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in Taxation (MST) preferred
  • Experience integrating tax planning into broader wealth management strategies
  • Exposure to estate planning, charitable giving, and succession planning
  • Experience leading client engagements and mentoring staff
