Tax Analyst

Purpose

The Tax Analyst is responsible for completing assigned functions within the department. This position will assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual company tax filings, monthly tax journal entries and analysis. This position involves accounting activities including assisting with general ledger and year-end audit preparation. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of tax laws, be organized, a self-starter, meet strict deadlines, ability to proceed and follow through with action plans, solution implementation and improvements with minimal monitoring from management.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.

• Essential Functions
• Assist in completion of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end indirect tax filings as assigned.
• Maintain resale certificate and ensure accuracy of tax application system.
• Accurate and timely tax compliance filings including Sales and Use Tax, Canadian GST/HST/QST/PST, Property Taxes, Heavy highway use tax, IFTA, Fuel Tax and Excise Taxes.
• Assist with calculation of tax provisions for single entity companies to the group, including maintaining supporting schedules.
• Assist with the preparation of responses to tax notices.
• Prepare standard monthly journal entries as assigned.
• Assist with timely filing and payments of US, Puerto Rico, and Canadian income tax returns, estimates and extensions.
• Assist with tax audits as assigned.
• Assist with inquiries from external auditors in connection with year-end audit.
• Assist with special projects as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

• Education:

• Bachelors in accounting, with tax concentration a plus. Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree

• Experience:

• Minimum 1 years of experience working in a corporate accounting environment, with focus on taxes or relevant accounting preferred.

• Experience using JD Edwards and Dynamics a plus.

• Licenses / Certifications:

• Valid driver's license - required

• Language:

• Proficiency in English required

• Bi-Lingual - Spanish or Portuguese is a plus

• Ability to setup desk equipment including setting up equipment on top of desks and connecting cables and power cords under desk (requiring lifting, bending, pushing, pulling).
