ABOUT THE ROLE
A nationally recognized public accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Director to join its growing Financial Services practice. This leadership role advises a sophisticated client base of private equity funds, hedge funds, and other investment management firms on complex tax planning, compliance, and structuring matters.
The Tax Director will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while leading engagement teams, overseeing complex tax projects, and driving business development initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax leader looking to combine technical expertise, client advisory, and practice growth within a collaborative Financial Services platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary tax advisor for financial services clients, including private equity and hedge funds.
Provide strategic tax planning, structuring, and compliance guidance.
Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns and related filings.
Identify tax-saving opportunities while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting financial services clients.
Build and maintain long-term client relationships while serving as a trusted advisor.
Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals across multiple engagements.
Collaborate with partners and cross-functional teams on complex client matters.
Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new business.
Participate in networking, proposal development, and client presentations.
Contribute to the continued growth and strategic direction of the Financial Services Tax practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, EA, or JD required.
12+ years of tax experience with a focus on financial services clients.
Experience serving private equity funds, hedge funds, and other investment management clients.
Strong knowledge of partnership taxation and financial services tax regulations.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and client engagements.
Demonstrated success in business development and relationship management.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage multiple complex engagements in a fast-paced environment.
