Description

Kforce's client, one of New York's leading real estate firms, seeks a Tax Director. Summary: The Tax Director will serve as the senior tax executive and relationship manager for external tax providers. The role is responsible for tax compliance oversight, identifying tax issues, coordinating external advisors, evaluating recommendations, and ensuring tax considerations support business objectives. This challenging opportunity offers outstanding compensation, benefits and winning culture. Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Investments, Legal and Finance on transactions, fund formations, restructurings, and strategic initiatives while overseeing tax governance, risk management, and advisor performance
  • Develop and maintain tax forecasts and planning strategies to support financial planning, capital allocation, and executive decision-making
  • Oversee the outsourced tax compliance process, including scope, timelines, deliverables, issue escalation, and coordination among internal stakeholders
  • Apply an exception-based review approach focused on material transactions, special allocations, significant tax positions, and other identified risks rather than detailed review of each return
  • Advise on material tax considerations related to acquisitions, dispositions, financings, developments, fund formations, and joint ventures
  • Identify tax risks early, frame issues for external advisors, evaluate their recommendations, and translate the implications for business decisions
  • Coordinate and oversee external advisors responsible for transaction structuring, tax analyses, and due diligence
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, practical, and commercially aligned recommendations
  • Lead tax planning and forecasting for parent company and its owners, including projected taxable income, effective tax rate, and cash taxes

Requirements:

  • CPA and/or Master's degree in Taxation are preferred
  • 15+ years of tax experience in real estate, private equity, asset management, public accounting, law, or a combination thereof
  • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, real estate funds, REITs, joint ventures, and investment structures
  • Experience managing external advisors and complex transaction processes
  • Strong business judgment and project management skills
  • Ability to translate complex tax issues into practical business advice
  • Effective collaborator who thrives in a cross-functional, advisor-led environment
