Tax Director

A rapidly growing, entrepreneurial tax advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead and scale its tax practice. This is an opportunity for a technically strong, business-minded tax professional to play a significant role in building the firm's team, systems, client experience, and long-term strategy.

This is not a conventional Tax Director role. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who enjoys working directly with clients, developing people, improving processes, embracing technology and AI, and helping build a growing business. There is significant potential for long-term leadership and equity participation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review complex individual and business tax returns and serve as the firm's senior technical tax resource.
• Advise high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and business owners on sophisticated tax matters.
• Oversee tax quality control, technical research, and compliance.
• Build scalable workflows, systems, and processes to support continued growth.
• Hire, mentor, and develop tax professionals and support staff.
• Manage client relationships, expectations, and onboarding.
• Assist with new client acquisition and practice growth initiatives.
• Represent and advocate for clients before the IRS and other taxing authorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology, AI, and automation.
• Partner with leadership on the strategic direction and continued growth of the practice.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 10+ years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong technical tax knowledge, including partnership taxation and complex allocation matters.
• Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
• Strong tax research and technical review capabilities.
• Experience with IRS compliance and representation.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Big Four experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Opportunity

• $140,000+ base compensation, depending on experience
