The Opportunity

As a Tax Manager, you'll serve as both a technical leader and trusted business advisor while helping manage client engagements and develop the next generation of tax professionals.

You'll work directly with entrepreneurs, executives, family-owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and closely held companies to provide proactive tax planning, compliance oversight, and strategic consulting services.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Lead complex tax planning and compliance engagements for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and closely held businesses
  • Develop strategies designed to minimize tax liabilities and maximize planning opportunities
  • Review complex tax returns and related work product
  • Research and resolve federal, state, and local tax matters
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments impacting clients

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients and business owners
  • Build and strengthen long-term client relationships
  • Deliver practical tax and business solutions tailored to client objectives
  • Coordinate with external advisors and professional service providers as needed
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and services

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise Associates and Senior Associates across multiple engagements
  • Review workpapers, tax returns, and planning projects
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development support
  • Assist with workflow management and engagement scheduling
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on excellence and client service

Technical Excellence

  • Conduct advanced tax research and communicate findings effectively
  • Support estate, gift, trust, and fiduciary tax planning initiatives
  • Assist with SALT-related planning and compliance matters
  • Provide technical guidance on complex client situations and special projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Active CPA or EA designation required
  • 5–10 years of progressive public accounting experience
  • Strong experience reviewing complex tax engagements
  • Estate, Gift & Trust taxation experience highly desirable
  • SALT experience preferred
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience
