Tax Manager/Director - Banking and Specialty Finance

CLA is currently seeking a Banking and Specialty Finance Tax Manager/Director to join-and ultimately help lead-our Financial Services Tax practice. This role is designed for a strategic, growth‑minded individual who will help to guide the long‑term direction, talent development, and client strategy of the group.

How you'll create opportunities in this Tax role:

• Consult with clients on business processes such as succession and tax planning.
• Lead, schedule, supervise, and review tax engagements.
• Develop and train team members to help them build inspired careers.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Perform a range of tax procedures in accordance with the size and complexity of the engagement.
• Review complex individual and corporate tax returns.

What you will need:

• You have a minimum of 6 years of experience serving in a tax role with a public accounting firm.
• You have a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA is required. JD or EA may be accepted in place of CPA certification.
• Deep understanding of tax issues affecting banks, insurance companies, investment funds, and specialty finance entities.
• Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740, partnership taxation, REITs, and financial instruments.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is $92,000.00 - $165,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00
