Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all tax planning and compliance, including federal and state income tax.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant tax laws.
  • Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
  • Strategize and execute plans related to 1031 exchanges and real estate tax matters.
  • Develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and risks.
  • Stay abreast of changes in federal and state tax laws and regulations to ensure timely compliance.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to establish best practices for tax processes and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team on tax-related matters.
  • Conduct tax research and planning, prepare tax memorandums on various tax issues, and provide tax expertise to internal business partners.
  • Liaise with external tax consultants as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree in Taxation or a CPA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tax manager role or similar, preferably within the Accounting and Finance industry.
  • Proficient in tax review, federal and state tax, income tax preparation, 1031 exchanges, and real estate tax.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements and the ability to analyze tax-related financial data.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
