SUMMARY

The Tax Manager will lead all aspects of tax compliance and internal consulting on various tax matters, including but not limited to sales and use tax, property tax on solar projects, and information reporting processes.This position reports to the Director of Corporate Finance or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is Hybrid locatedin Houston, TXand working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Lead all processes related to transactional and all indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, business personal property tax, withholding tax, and information reporting, and other business taxes to ensure reporting compliance
  • Handle auditsrelatedto all taxissuesincludingindirecttax, withholdingtax, and informationreportingfilings
  • Lead all aspectsoftheinformationreportingprocessesincluding but not limited to 1099, 1042
  • Perform technicalsales and usetaxresearchtoensurecompliancewithstate and localtaxlaws and minimizeany potential exposure, whichincludestaxresearchmemorandums and/ortaxmatricestodocumentposition and support
  • Advise internal businesspartnersregarding all indirecttaxmatters, including but not limited tosales and usetaxquestions and propertytax on solar projects
  • Account reconciliationbetweentheCompany’srecordswiththosekeptbyoutsourcedaccounting firm for Mexican subsidiaries
  • Coordinatewith outside taxpreparers/advisors on Federal and State incometaxfilings and othervarioustaxissues
  • Providetechnical support tovarious internal and external partnersregardingsales and usetax, propertytaxes, withholdingtax and reportingissues
  • Support Partnership entitiestaxreturn and submit annual LLC reportasnecessary
  • Prepare/Review othervarioustaxfilings: sales and usetax, Property tax, F1099, F1042, Business taxrenewal, Business license, Commerce tax, and etc
  • Review deal documentation in thetaxarea
  • Follow up on FINCEN beneficial Ownership reportingfor Partnership entitiesifnecessary
  • Register FEIN fornewlyestablished LLCs asnecessary and fill out taxforms such as W-9 accordingly.
  • Assist withworldwidetransfer pricing (compliance and testingofintercompanytransactions)
  • Manage thetaxnotice log and follow upasnecessary
  • Assist in financialplanning and analysis on businesstaxes
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

·          Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, tax or related finance field preferred

·          CPA preferred

·          Minimum of 6 years of tax experience

·          Experience in the construction industry or renewable energy projects a plus

·          Experience in the tax software such as SOVOS, Vertex or similar a plus

·          Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·          Strong organizational skills and ability to develop process and procedures with little direction in a fast pace and changing environment.
