About The Position:

We are seeking a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager (depending on experience) to join Norstella's growing finance organization. Reporting to the VP of Tax, Global Head of Tax, you will be a hands-on owner of the global tax provision and a core member of our in-house tax team. This is an ideal role for a technically strong tax professional who wants real ownership in a fast-paced, multinational environment and who thrives as the company brings more of its tax function in-house.

You will work across the group's US, UK, India, and other international entities, with particular focus on the global tax provision (US GAAP and IFRS), US income and indirect tax compliance, and transfer pricing. The level of the role - Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager - will be calibrated to the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Provision & Reporting

  • Prepare the global tax provision (US GAAP and IFRS) and supporting forecasts for the group, including current and deferred tax, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
  • Own provision workpapers and calculations in OneSource Tax Provision (OTP), maintaining data integrity across legal entities and jurisdictions.
  • Prepare return-to-provision true-ups and deferred tax roll forwards.
  • Support tax disclosures in statutory and consolidated financial statements, and assist with external audit requests.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Treasury on tax reporting, forecasting, and planning.

Tax Compliance

  • Manage timely and accurate US federal and state income tax compliance, coordinating with external preparers.
  • Support coordination of foreign income tax filings across the group's non-US jurisdictions.
  • Review return-to-provision items, estimated payments, foreign tax credits, and group relief.

Indirect Tax

  • Own US sales and use tax compliance, including return preparation and filings through Avalara, nexus monitoring, and exemption certificate management.
  • Respond to taxing authority notices and manage indirect tax registrations and documentation.

Transfer Pricing

  • Help set and maintain intercompany and transfer pricing policies, and support the operational application of those policies across entities.
  • Coordinate with external transfer pricing advisors on documentation and analyses.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions for consistency with policy.

Operations and Transformation

  • Support the transition of provision and indirect tax preparation in-house, reducing reliance on outside providers.
  • Help drive OTP optimization and, where relevant, implementation, along with broader process automation and standardization.
  • Stay current on global tax developments (e.g., Pillar Two and EU VAT changes) and communicate implications across the business.

What the Senior Tax Manager Level Looks Like:

At the Senior Tax Manager level, we would expect broader and more independent ownership of the global provision, a leading role in OTP implementation and process build-out, more direct management of external advisors, and the judgment to spot and resolve issues with limited oversight. If your experience is deeper in some of these areas than others, we still encourage you to apply, and we will calibrate the level accordingly.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive corporate tax experience for the Tax Manager level, and 8+ years for the Senior Tax Manager level, including time in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and ideally in-house at a multinational. Level is driven as much by the depth of global provision ownership and OTP experience as by years.
  • Material, hands-on experience preparing the US tax provision under ASC 740, and global tax provision experience under US GAAP and IFRS (IAS 12).
  • Hands-on experience with OneSource Tax Provision (OTP).
  • Experience with US sales and use tax compliance using Avalara.
  • Strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance hands-on execution with sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or foreign equivalent (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA); strong candidates without certification will be considered.
  • OTP implementation experience.
  • Familiarity with European direct and indirect tax regimes, including VAT.
  • Prior in-house experience at a multinational company.

Location & Work Style:

Preference for candidates based in the Chicago area or Central Time Zone; other US locations will be considered

Benefits:

  • Medical and prescription drug benefits
  • Health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts
  • Dental and vision benefits
  • Basic life and AD&D benefits
  • 401k retirement plan with company match
  • Company paid short and long-term disability
  • Paid parental leave
  • Open vacation policy and company holidays

Compensation:

The expected base salary for this position ranges from [$145,000 to $160,000]. Final title and base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience and capabilities. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
