Tax Manager

Position Summary

Thorndale Partners is seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a growing opportunity in the Overland Park area. This role will serve as the lead tax professional in a newly established regional office, focusing on managing client relationships, supporting financial advisory teams, and helping build a full-service tax practice. Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a portfolio of tax clients, including tax compliance and planning for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
• Serve as a trusted tax resource for financial advisors by participating in client meetings, answering tax-related questions, and supporting integrated planning discussions.
• Develop and strengthen client relationships within the local market through networking and referral opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal leadership and tax teams to support planning strategies, process improvements, and quality control initiatives.
• Assist in establishing and growing the local tax practice, including involvement in future hiring, onboarding, and mentoring efforts.
• Contribute to tax research, special projects, and additional client service initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• 4–6+ years of tax experience within a mid-sized or large public accounting firm.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and state taxation for individuals and business entities, including partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates.
• Active CPA license required.
• Proven ability to independently manage client relationships while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly and effectively.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow and develop a regional practice.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
