Tax Manager | Partner Track Location: Richmond, VA
Compensation: $120, 000 - $135, 000 Base Salary
Bonus Opportunity: 8% - 12% Discretionary Bonus plus additional seasonal and year end incentives
Schedule: Hybrid
Preferred Start Date: September 1, 2026 (earlier for the right candidate)
About the OpportunityOur client is a growing public accounting firm headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida that is actively expanding through strategic acquisitions. As part of the acquisition of a well established tax practice in Richmond, Virginia, we are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to step into a leadership role and help drive the next phase of growth.
This is a unique opportunity for a tax professional who wants more than a traditional management position. The selected candidate will inherit and manage an existing book of business, lead a team of tax professionals, and play a key role in shaping the future of the practice. This position offers a clear path toward partnership for the right individual.

Position Responsibilities
  • Manage and review individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Oversee day to day tax department operations and workflow management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports and junior staff
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing tax planning and consulting services
  • Manage client relationships and deliver exceptional client service
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and workpaper systems
  • Assist with department growth initiatives and integration of acquired practices
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning and operational improvements
  • Contribute innovative ideas that enhance efficiency and client experience
Qualifications
  • CPA preferred; EA credentials will be considered
  • Public accounting experience required; Big 4 experience highly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of managerial or direct report leadership experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax code and tax planning strategies
  • Experience reviewing complex individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Proven ability to manage staff, delegate work, and develop team members
  • Strong client facing skills with excellent communication abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, growth oriented environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and accountability
