Title: Tax Manager, Private Client Services
Location: San Ramon/San Jose CA
Salary: $120,000 – $166,000
Overview: Accounting and consulting firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join its Private Client Services practice. This role is responsible for managing tax compliance and advisory engagements for high-net-worth individuals and their closely held businesses, supporting business development, and coaching the next generation of tax professionals — within a firm that prioritizes career growth, flexibility, and a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and coordinate preparation of tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, including personal income tax, closely held businesses, trusts, estates, and gift tax returns
- Advise clients on a full spectrum of tax services including planning, research, compliance, allocations, and transactional activities
- Conduct or review high-level research on complex and emerging tax issues; prepare supporting memorandums
- Review and confirm assignment objectives, scope, and work plans with clients
- Ensure appropriate resource assignment across engagement roles
- Analyze billing and assist with accounts receivable collections
- Assist with new business development, extended services, and tax issue recognition for existing clients
- Seek regular client feedback on assignment progress and overall performance
- Coach and mentor staff and seniors on client engagements and career development
- Consult with high-net-worth clients and their advisors on income tax planning, trust, estate, and inheritance tax planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA, JD, or EA designation (must be qualified to practice before the IRS)
- Minimum 4 years of US tax consulting/compliance experience within public accounting
- Minimum 1 year in a managerial role involving clients and team members
