Position Summary
We are seeking a Tax Manager to oversee tax engagements, support client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of our New Jersey practice. This role is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys managing client work, mentoring staff, and developing as a leader within a growing organization.

The successful candidate will work closely with firm leadership while helping deliver high-quality tax and advisory services to closely held businesses, partnerships, and individual clients.

Work Environment: This role is based full-time in our Ramsey, New Jersey office and involves close in-person collaboration with our team and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review business, partnership, corporate, and individual tax engagements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
• Prepare and review tax returns, projections, and related workpapers.
• Assist with tax planning and advisory services for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness, professionalism, and technical expertise.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop senior accountants and staff accountants.
• Coordinate workflow, manage deadlines, and oversee engagement budgeting and scheduling.
• Research and resolve federal and state tax issues, including multi-state matters where applicable.
• Collaborate with firm leadership to improve processes, workflow efficiency, and client service delivery.
• Support implementation of technology and best practices across engagements.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across AFG s growing national network.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license preferred (or actively pursuing licensure).
• 4 to 6 years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on taxation.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax compliance.
• Experience reviewing returns and supervising staff.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
• Experience with tax and accounting software platforms commonly used in public accounting.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a desire for long-term professional growth.

Expected Total Compensation: Approximately $115,000 $120,000 pa, inclusive of paid overtime and annual bonus, depending on experience and hours worked.
