Position Overview:

As Tax Manager you will serve as a senior technical leader and firm ambassador. Your days will be split between advising complex clients, developing new relationships, and mentoring the next generation of tax professionals. You will report directly to the firm Owners and play a meaningful role in the strategic direction of the firm going forward.


This is a leadership role, transitioning from working directly with the founder and their clients to running the full operation of our San Diego office as the founder transitions into retirement.

The Tax Manager will oversee and manage complex tax engagements, leading staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This position requires strong technical expertise (heavy experience with 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1040, 1041), excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and client service.

Correia & Associates has been a respected tax advisory service in San Diego for a generation. This office is part of a larger tax advisory group with offices in Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach (coming soon) and Honolulu, HI.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and review complex individual, business, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing proactive tax planning and advisory services
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff 
  • Oversee engagement planning, workflow, deadlines, and billing
  • Research and resolve complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda as needed
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Collaborate with partners and leadership on client strategy and firm initiatives
Qualifications


  • CPA license required
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong technical knowledge in federal and state taxation
  • Experience with complex entities, high-net-worth individuals, and tax planning
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and client relationship skills
  • Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office
