Tax Supervisor / Tax Manager – CPA Firm
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor or Tax Manager with an active CPA license to join our clients growing CPA firm. This position will work with a diverse client base across multiple industries, with a significant focus on complex real estate clients and transactions.
The ideal candidate has strong technical tax knowledge, experience reviewing complex returns, and the ability to manage client relationships and multiple engagements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys challenging tax work, collaborating with firm leadership, and mentoring developing professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and other entities
Work extensively with real estate investors, developers, partnerships, and related entities
Review complex real estate returns involving multi-entity structures, depreciation, cost-segregation considerations, property acquisitions and dispositions, and passive activity rules
Provide proactive tax planning, research, and advisory services to clients
Identify tax-saving opportunities and communicate recommendations clearly
Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines, budgets, and workflow priorities
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and develop trusted, long-term relationships
Review work prepared by staff and senior accountants for accuracy, completeness, and technical compliance
Mentor, train, and provide constructive feedback to junior team members
Research complex tax matters and communicate findings to clients and firm leadership
Assist clients with tax notices, audits, and inquiries from federal and state agencies
Collaborate with partners and other departments to deliver comprehensive client service
Support firm growth through strong client service, relationship development, and identification of additional service opportunities
Qualifications
Active CPA license required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Five or more years of public accounting tax experience preferred
Strong experience preparing and reviewing complex partnership, corporate, and individual tax returns
Meaningful experience with real estate taxation and partnership structures
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and compliance requirements
Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines during busy periods
Experience with professional tax, research, and practice-management software preferred
