You will be responsible for ...

• Serve as the firm's technical leader for State & Local Tax matters, with a primary focus on California tax regulations.
• Advise clients on complex state income, franchise, gross receipts, sales and use tax, and multistate tax issues.
• Review and approve complex tax returns, tax provisions, and state tax planning strategies.
• Represent clients before state and local taxing authorities during audits and examinations.
• Lead SALT consulting and compliance engagements from planning through completion.
• Develop and expand client relationships while identifying additional service opportunities.
• Drive business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the SALT practice.
• Mentor, develop, and lead tax professionals while fostering a high-performance team environment.
• Collaborate with firm leadership and other tax practice areas to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
• Participate in strategic planning, practice management, and firm leadership initiatives.

You will need ...

• CPA or JD required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience with significant State & Local Tax expertise.
• Deep knowledge of California income, franchise, sales and use, and other state and local tax regulations.
• Proven track record of business development and client relationship management.
• Experience leading complex SALT consulting and compliance engagements.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and practice development skills.
• Ability to build and grow a profitable book of business.

Ideal background to be successful in this role...

• Current Partner, Director, Senior Manager, or Managing Director in a public accounting firm.
• Expertise in multistate taxation, state tax controversy, and SALT consulting.
• Experience working with middle-market and closely held businesses across a variety of industries.
