Senior Tax Accountant

Location: New York City (Penn Plaza or Jericho )

Join a reputable CPA firm with a prominent presence in New York City, Penn Plaza, as well as offices in New Jersey, and Long Island. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to work collaboratively with our team of professionals. This position offers flexibility to be based in either our New York City or Jericho office.

Responsibilities:

• Tax Return Preparation:
  • Lead the preparation of complex partnership and high net worth individual tax returns.
  • Contribute to the preparation of corporate, fiduciary, and tax-exempt entity tax returns as needed.
• Multi-State Coordination:
  • Coordinate with staff and managers to ensure accurate and compliant multi-state tax returns.
• Independent Tax Research:
  • Conduct independent tax research to stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Client Service:
  • Address clients' specific needs and provide value-added solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for the client billing system.
• Training and Development:
  • Assist in the training and development of less experienced staff and interns.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • 3-5 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting setting with a strong focus on high net worth individual returns and partnership returns.
  • Industry exposure to real estate is required.
• Certifications:
  • Licensed CPA strongly preferred; minimum 150 credits and eligibility to sit for the CPA exam if not already licensed.
• Education:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting; Graduate degree in Tax preferred.
• Software Proficiency:
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and CCH ProSystem Tax, or equivalent tax software.
  • Preferred proficiency in Prosystem Engagement, Quickbooks, and other related software such as CCH Axcess and BNA.
• Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
