Following established guidelines, technologist performs all transcranial doppler ultrasounds while modifying the techniques as necessary to get the most complete and accurate exam possible. Technologist is also responsible for training all vascular ultrasound technologists to competently and proficiently perform transcranial doppler exams according to established guidelines.
Performs transcranial Doppler ultrasounds on the inpatient floors efficiently and accurately and follows all documented protocols to include: Transcranial Doppler ultrasound flow studies. Able to identify all vessels of the Circle of Willis and extracranial feeding vessels based on insonation window, depth, angle of insonation, and waveform morphology. Determines the absence, presence and extent of disease Determines areas of interest and documents images to provide the reading physician with information for the final report. Responsible for analyzing results and giving preliminary reports to the ordering providers and entering numeric values into the patient charts for physician review. Develops a comprehensive TCD training program for all vascular ultrasound techs Inspects and maintains equipment for quality control. Ensures quality, safety and infection control standards are followed at all times.
