Duties Description Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity or just starting your teaching career? Sagamore Childrens Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Teacher to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:
Teacher 1 - A bachelor's degree including satisfactory completion of the semester hours required for the teaching specialty.
Teacher 2 - Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
Teacher 3 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
