Our vibrant campus offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Hospice services, creating a community where residents-and employees-thrive. Kinder Village at Episcopal Homes of Minnesota is looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Lead Toddler Teacher to join our team.

Kinder Village is a unique childcare center located within Episcopal Homes, a senior living community in St. Paul. Our children have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with older adults through planned intergenerational activities, creating a warm and engaging environment unlike any other childcare center.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $19.50-$22.00 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:00 a.m.-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom for toddlers.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that support early childhood development.
  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and daily routines.
  • Lead group activities including stories, songs, calendar, weather, and social-emotional learning.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
  • Participate in intergenerational activities with Episcopal Homes residents.
  • Keep parents informed by documenting daily activities, meals, naps, diapering, and learning in Brightwheel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and meet one of the following Minnesota Teacher qualifications:

  • Associate degree with 4,160 hours as an Assistant Teacher
  • Child Development Certificate with 1,560 hours as an Assistant Teacher, Aide, or Student Intern
  • Bachelor's Degree with 1,040 hours as an Assistant Teacher, Aide, or Student Intern

Additional requirements include:

  • Successful completion of DHS background studies
  • Pre-employment TB test through Episcopal Homes

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CDA or Bachelors degree in any field or equivalent experience (4,160 hours as an assistant teacher at an accredited center plus 24 college credits in child-related coursework).
  • Must meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualification requirements.
  • Previous experience working with children ages 24 months to 5 years.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain classroom ratios and oversee daily routines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 months of professional teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience in an intergenerational or multi-age learning environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of emergent curriculum and child-centered learning approaches.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, sit on the floor, and lift children (up to 40 lbs) throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and movement required in an active childcare environment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and physically support children when necessary.

Working Conditions

  • On-site childcare facility within Episcopal Homes of Minnesota.
  • Regular interaction with children, families, staff, and older adult residents.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for meetings or special events.
