Title of Position: Teacher Affinity Group Leader - Stipend Position

Work Year: 2026-2027 School Year - summer planning required

Effective Date of Employment: August 1, 2026

Salary Range: Contractually hourly Teacher's union rate- Up to 50 hours

Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority: Directly responsible to the Superintendent

of Schools, and/or their designee.

Summary:

Haverhill Public Schools is seeking dedicated and culturally responsive educators to serve as Teacher Affinity Group Leaders. Teacher Affinity Groups are intended to provide supportive professional spaces where educators with diverse experiences, backgrounds, or ethnicities can build community, engage in reflective dialogue, support retention and belonging, and contribute to an inclusive school culture.

Teacher Affinity Group Leaders will organize and facilitate meetings, promote professional collaboration, and support staff engagement aligned with the district's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Summary of Duties:

  • Work with district leadership to develop a vision and plan to roll out a district-wide affinity group that will support, empower, and engage staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Engage with HR to recruit and retain educators who reflect our student demographics.
  • Plan and facilitate regular teacher affinity group meetings (at least 1 afternoon per month during the school year)
  • Foster a fun, meaningful, welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for staff participation.
  • Promote professional collaboration, peer support, and community-building among educators.
  • Support staff voice and leadership opportunities within the school community.
  • Facilitate collaboration with school and district leadership on initiatives related to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Participate in and implement relevant professional development and district training.
  • Communicate meeting schedules, goals, and activities to participants and administration as appropriate.
  • Maintain attendance records and submit required documentation.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings scheduled before or after school, as well as during designated professional collaboration times.
  • Maintain consistent communication and participation throughout the school year, including managing meeting agendas and collaborating directly with the Superintendent's office and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

Qualifications:

  • Present educator or professional staff member employed by Haverhill Public Schools, who identifies as having diverse experiences, backgrounds, or ethnicities
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust among colleagues.
  • Experience facilitating groups, mentoring colleagues, or leading professional learning communities is preferred.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate and acceptable.
