Position Information

Description & Details: The primary purpose of the Teacher Aide includes: 1. Assisting teachers in a warm and nurturing environment in which each child can grow physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. 2. Promoting home and Center relations and a partnership with families and the community. 3. Preparing and serving nutritious meals with accurate food portions following the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements. 4. Working safely. 5. Assisting in the supervision and education of university students participating in the Center for Child Development.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm during regular university hours. 8:00am-4:30pm during break and summer hours.

Hiring Range: $29,260-$39,014

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three years of experience working with children 6 weeks-5 years of age OR Two years of college and experience working with children 6 weeks-5 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field OR Child Development Associate credential

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Organized and detailed-oriented

  • Takes initiative

  • Operation of kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, and sanitizer

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and email

  • Customer-oriented to best meet the needs of children, parents, university students, and community guests
