Teacher - Assistant Band Director
Job Description
Position: Assistant Band Director
Reports to: Principal, Band Director
Terms of Employment: Ten-month work year, unless otherwise specified
Pay Grade: NC State Salary Schedule, Commensurate with experience, + Supplement
FLSA Status: Exempt
Nature of Work
The Assistant Band Director is responsible for all areas of the band program, including but not limited to:
Managing the various administrative tasks of the program and planning the instrumental music curriculum
Organizing and leading all practices and performances, including after-school, concert, marching band, and jazz rehearsals
Organizing the parent organization and providing guidance to its executive board
Coordinating performances and rehearsals with school leadership and the athletic director
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited college/university
Certification and Licensure Requirements
Must hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements include being able to sit or stand for an extended period of time, sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students, speak clearly so that others may understand clearly, and hear and understand speech at normal levels.
