TEACHER ASSISTANT/ BUS DRIVER

Position Description: Teacher Assistant - Bus Driver

Location: Roanoke Rapids Graded School District

Position Type: Classified

Reports To: Principal

Qualifications: Must meet federal NCLB requirements; Associates Degree or 48 semester hours of higher education is required. Applicants must have good oral and written communication skills as well as basic computer program skills. Candidates must be able to exert negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Individuals must have, or obtain shortly after become employed, their CDL and they must maintain their CDL throughout their employment in order to remain employed. Previous experience working with children in a learning environment preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities: Under general supervision, this individual performs a wide variety of tasks, which includes the following:

• Provide instructional support;
• Provide academic assistant;
• Keeps accurate records;
• Monitors student behavior;
• Treats students with respect; and
• Preforms other related duties as assigned, which includes driving and/or monitoring a school bus as needed.
