Summary
Under general direction, incumbents provide quality instruction through planned lessons, diagnosing learning needs, creating and leading engaging learning activities, utilizing assessments to monitor student progress, and communicating with administration and parents. Creating a flexible classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed. Participates in all Bridge-related trainings and coursework.
Essential Functions
Teaches district-approved curriculum.
Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conference, etc.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Plans and coordinates the work of teacher aides, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work.
Incorporates technology into lesson plans.
Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors.
Establishes and enforces classroom management structure and rules that ensure the academic engagement and the physical and mental safety of all students.
Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
Maintains knowledge of grade-level content and standards for the students they serve.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Attends and participates in all Bridge-related trainings and events, including additional work days to complete Bridge curriculum.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions (Special Education Bridge Teacher only)
Makes recommendations and leads the team in development of individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, setting learning goals and adopting modifications as necessary. Ensures each students activities and lessons are planned and organized according to their abilities.
Develops and teaches lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual students while meeting required specifications of IEPs and 504 plans.
Implements IEPs, provides ongoing or follow-up assessments, and continually tracks progress and makes modifications as necessary.
Coordinates and attends IEP meetings.
Collaborates with classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure each students needs are met and plans are followed.
Ensures programs comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and ensures each applicable student is provided with Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is properly modified for their individual needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
