Primary Purpose:
The Teacher Development and Student Interventionist (TDSI) position for Reading/EB is designed to build teachers capacity in content and pedagogy by providing and supporting ongoing professional learning, coaching and feedback, and monitoring and analyzing student learning as a means of deepening teachers content knowledge, improving practice, and elevating student achievement. The TDSI will support curriculum development, professional development, and integration/alignment of instructional standards. The TDSI is also designed to work directly with students to personalize the learning experience based on their needs.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Reading Academy Certification, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong subject area content knowledge as appropriate to assignment
- Exceptional communication skills
- Knowledge and experience in curriculum and instructional strategy implementation
- Knowledge and experience with rigorous curriculum and instructional strategies
- Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices
- Evidence of skills in planning, organization, and collaboration
- Knowledge of universal screeners and progress monitoring practices
- Evidence of skills to deliver effective professional learning

Experience:
- Three years classroom experience
- Experience working with at-risk and diverse student populations
- Demonstrated record of strong instructional practice and student growth
- Bilingual preferred on dual language campuses
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Teacher Capacity:
- Promote district instructional priorities by providing support in building teacher capacity through high-impact strategies in instruction and classroom management, such as in-class coaching, peer observation, co-teaching, and modeling.
- Facilitate professional learning communities and assist teachers with collaborative lesson internalization.
- Support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies for Emergent Bilingual (EB) learners, including language objectives, academic vocabulary development, and scaffolding techniques aligned to content standards.
- Reinforce instructional best practices aligned to district priorities.
Curriculum Support:
- Assist with curriculum development, implementation, and integration of TEKS into instruction.
- Analyze state, district, and campus data to examine instructional alignment and areas of opportunity for curriculum refinement.
- Create, present, and support professional development in collaboration with campus and district leadership.
Student Achievement:
- Collect and disaggregate data from screeners, diagnostic, and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students response to academic and behavioral interventions (MTSS).
- Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs in pull-out and/or classroom setting.
- Assist campus/teachers in developing strategic plans for intervention, acceleration, and enrichment for growth in all students.
- Evaluate, monitor, and document student progress in English language acquisition.
- Commit to serving on campus leadership team to support the mission and vision of the campus.
- Support campus team in goal setting opportunities for students and teachers.
Other:
- Collaborate with teachers to document and support effective language accommodations, strategies, and processes for EB students.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with Title III, ESSA, and TEA requirements.
- Serve as a liaison and campus trainer by attending district meetings and disseminating relevant information to staff.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
