QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Language Arts or in Theatre OR Eligible for a Provisional Certificate in a Teaching Field PCTF alternative certificate in Theatre with a college major in Theatre or Drama.
Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale on the undergraduate degree. Persons with Masters Degrees must have a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Applicants should attach their Bachelors degree transcript to their online application to be considered for employment.
Applicants must take and pass if not already taken the TheatrePraxis Exam 5641 and the Core Academic Skills for Educators Combined Test 5751 within the first year of employment by June 1. Expense for exams is borne by the teacher.
Those applicants without a valid Alabama Certificate are required to take and pass four designated college courses in a two year period for continued employment and those costs are borne by the teacher.
Experience in producing directing or acting in live stage plays is preferred.
DUTIES
Responsible for producing theatrical productions or plays according to a schedule to be determined by the principal.
Works in conjunction with Fine Arts teachers at the school.
Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.
Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
Exhibits positive human relations skills.
Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
Maintains and submits records and reports.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

Salary Range FromTo As per MCPSS Salary Matrix depending on degree and experience. Bachelors beginning pay - $47,600.00

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABIFBI criminal history background check fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
