The duties include but are not limited to:
• Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences around English language learning objectives • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere • Exhibits positive human relations skills • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress • Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication • Maintains and submits records and reports • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership • Plans, writes, and implements lessons for the learning needs of all students using varied instructional and learning strategies • Monitors students progress and provides immediate feedback to the students and adjusts instructional plans accordingly • Provides whole group, small group, and individual instruction • Prepares materials to create and sustain a positive classroom for children • Prepares bulletin boards or other visual aids to enhance teaching and learning as requested • Collects data, maintains accurate records, and communicates progress with parents as required • Monitors student attendance • Maintains classroom management conducive to productivity • Supervises students at all times • Works collaboratively with other teachers on a daily basis • Performs other duties as requested by ESL Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have an Appropriate Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate. Certification in ESL via Praxis or Degree preferred and will be required if selected.

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABIFBI criminal history background check, fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department, and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
