Position Overview: The Teacher for Remedial Reading instruction plays a pivotal role in enhancing literacy instruction and supporting the reading development of all students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy education, a deep understanding of reading interventions, and the ability to collaborate with teachers and other stakeholders to create a comprehensive literacy program.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct assessments to identify students' reading levels, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze assessment data to inform personalized reading intervention plans.
  • Provide targeted and differentiated reading instruction to students in need of additional support.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to design and implement effective small group interventions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a research-based literacy curriculum.
  • Adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide ongoing professional development for teachers focused on effective literacy instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in literacy education.
  • Analyze student data to monitor progress, identify trends, and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers to use data for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with parents to provide strategies for supporting reading development at home.
  • Conduct workshops and informational sessions for parents on literacy best practices.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other specialists to provide a unified approach to literacy instruction.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) when necessary.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in the course.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about education trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum enhancements in the content area

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree or higher in the core area content
  • Master's Degree (M.A.) in Education.or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous teaching experience or school experience in teaching (preferred)
  • State certification or endorsement as a Reading Specialist.
  • Previous experience as a Reading Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of literacy interventions, assessment tools, and instructional strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Arizona Teaching certificate
  • Valid Reading Endorsement

Clearances

  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
  • Valid I-9 form
  • AZ Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience for this position
  • 188 day new teacher contract - per work calendar for this position
  • 186 returning teacher contract - per the work calendar for this position

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the site administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
