Position: Teacher for Students with Cognitive Impairments (SA)

Location: Riverside Elementary School

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Special Education Endorsement: SA - Cognitive Impairment
• Must be knowledgeable in strategies that will meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, caregivers, legal guardians, staff and students.
• The ability to provide direction and support to paraeducator staff
• Provide instructional support for students to progress in their educational program
• Maintain special education records in all areas of special education compliance
• Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
• Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities

Responsibilities:

• Comply with timelines, laws and regulations that relate to district, state, federal policies and procedures
• Monitor and document student progress on IEP goals
• Collaborate with all service providers, and other staff to develop instruction and support goals that are designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students
• Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans
• Compile and submit monthly Medicaid reports
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students
• Participate in building meetings as directed by the building principal
• The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal.
• The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations

Reports To: Building Principal and Special Education Supervisor

Workday/Week: Monday - Friday

Starting Date: ASAP

Compensation: Per WEA Master Agreement PLUS $2,250 annual stipend
