Help empower students to achieve their goals by bringing your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to a supportive and collaborative educational setting. This contract opportunity is perfect for a dedicated professional who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students with visual impairments. You'll work onsite, serving approximately 20-23 students, each presenting unique needs and abilities within a dynamic learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification required
  • Prior experience working with students with visual impairments in K-12 preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt teaching methods
  • Solid understanding of assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Creative problem-solving and resourcefulness in individualized instruction
  • Team-oriented approach with teachers, support staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students in individual and group settings
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accessible curricula and positive classroom experiences
  • Recommend and support the use of specialized equipment and materials
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress, maintaining detailed student records
  • Offer guidance to staff and families on strategies and tools for the visually impaired
