Title Code Teacher Mathematics Title I

JOB SUMMARY

Serves as a member of the school-based resource team under the direction of the school principal with support from the Coordinator of Elementary Integrated Mathematics and the Title I Office. Assists school staff with the implementation of curriculum and programs for mathematics. Assists in providing professional development and facilitating collaborative planning. Coordinates the implementation of identified mathematics intervention programs, strategies, and instructional support. Provides leadership expertise and resource support to teachers to ensure that approved mathematics practices are implemented with fidelity, enabling students to improve their understanding and proficiency in mathematics and reach their full academic potential.

Principals will identify the Title I Math Teacher from an approved pool of candidates. Principals may reappoint the same individual each year as the Title I Math Teacher depending on the needs of the school but these are one-year appointments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzes data to determine student progress and achievement. • Monitors collection of identified mathematics intervention data. • Assists school administrators in monitoring program fidelity and implementation. • Facilitates collaborative planning and conducting professional development. • Provides regular assistance to classroom teachers in implementing curriculum, refining teaching strategies, and adding new procedures to their teaching repertoire. • Collaborates with the mathematics office, the Title I office, and other appropriate stakeholders to assure that appropriate professional development is provided. • Assists with the creation and implementation of school procedures and guidelines to provide schools with steps for student identification, data interpretation, assessment, analysis, and scheduling of students. • Works with individual and small groups of students to support mathematics instruction. • Assists with the implementation of the School Improvement Plan. • Assists with monitoring, planning, and maintaining Title I program budget documentation and events. • Attends county math and Title I meetings to support schools in implementation of county directives and suggestions as related to best math practices. • Builds teacher capacity by modeling lessons, co-teaching, collaborative coaching, and supporting small group instruction with teachers and students. • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

• Bachelors Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.

Experience

• Five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Knowledge of K-5 mathematics curriculum, instruction, and intervention programs in environments that include special education and underserved populations. • Extensive knowledge of strategies, techniques, and processes involved in mathematics instruction that can be applied across curriculum areas and grade levels. • Knowledge of current trends, research, in the field of specialization and methodology in instructional techniques. • Demonstrated ability to speak and write effectively. • Knowledge of methods and practices for data collection and analysis. • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and parents. • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning. • Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners. • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications, e.g., Video, Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred. • Licenses and Certifications: Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification, Professional Certificate, appropriate to the assigned teaching content area, issued by Maryland State Department of Education, MSDE required or Hold or be eligible for Educator License, Initial Professional License, IPL, issued by Maryland State Department of Education, MSDE required.
